I have to admit that, as an American, I always felt a bit smug when I watched governments in Central and South America, Africa, and the Middle East teeter or crumble as some dictatorial autocrat made an attempt to force their ideology on the population, because that just could not happen here. Events at our own Capitol after the last Presidential election made us indistinguishable from those other countries, much to my dismay.

If you were to ask me whether Donald Trump fomented this uprising on purpose, my honest answer would be, “I believe so.” If you were to ask me if he could have prevented this attack on our government, belief is not a consideration. It is certain that a word to the crowd from him deploring this behavior would have brought the events which followed to an immediate halt. Of that there cannot be any doubt.

We are again being asked to consider Donald Trump as our president. I recognize that Joe Biden is far from an ideal opponent in this election, but I would not expect him to try and overthrow the election results should he lose, and that is an obvious plus. That behavior was a stain on our process from which it will take years to recover. Juntas do not belong here.

Remember too that, if you are not a fan of Biden and are considering a vote for Robert Kennedy Jr,, as an example, any vote for a candidate other than Biden is in reality a vote for Trump. Please do not let him happen to us again.
