Flenniken Library to offer hands-on computer classes

CARMICHAELS – People who want to use a computer but don’t know where to begin or who would like to learn a new program for work should call the Flenniken Public Library and sign up for a free computer class. The library offers hands-on computer training. Since space is limited, those interested must register by calling 724-966-5263, or by stopping by the library. There will be two sets of classes: Mondays at 5:45 p.m. and Thursdays at 2 p.m The topics that will be covered and the times are: n Using a mouse, offered Nov. 1 only; Learn how to manipulate a mouse and some of the keyboard keys. This class should be taken before any other class, unless the participant has prior computer experience. n Beginning Microsoft Vista, offered Nov. 5 and Nov. 8; Learn how to use the basics of Microsoft Vista operating system. It will include managing files and folders. The class will also help users of the Microsoft 7 operating system. n Beginning Microsoft Word 2007, offered Nov. 15 and Thurs. Nov. 19; Learn how to use Word to write letters and reports. n Beginning Internet, offered Nov. 26 and Nov. 29; This class teach participants how to search the Internet to find the information they want. The library will be closed Nov. 12, in observance of Veterans’ Day. But people can renew books, place holds, and do research 24/7 on the library’s website, www.flenniken.org. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 724-966-5263.
