Photo by Robin Richards Penn State Master Gardener Janet Rhoades of Washington cleans debris from the lush 75-foot wall garden she has designed, planted and maintained for four years at Washington County Agricultural Fairgrounds. The garden is one of about 15 at the Arden site, all of which are created by local volunteers and range in size from small planters to a mini-park complete with gazebo. Rhoades has been tending gardens at the fairgrounds for 15 years. This overflowing bed includes echinea, black-eyed Susan, hibiscus, coreopsis, petunias, day lilies, peonies, asters, sedum, roses and irises, all donated by local greenhouses Hothouse, Wagner's, Ianoti and Bedners.
