Seedy start
By Eleanor Bailey
Growing a beautiful garden can simply be started by seeds. Sunflowers are sure to bring a smile to the face on a clear day. Perhaps a finch or two will perch on the blossoms while devouring the succulent seeds. Butterflies are free to roam as they too relish the nectar of zinnias. Daffodils, grown from bulbs planted in the fall, signal the promise of spring and a colorful season ahead. Echinacea, with its wide varieties, carry their blooms through the cooler fall months. Remember these perennials, like bulbs, thrive on their own, flowering year after year without much coaxing. Supplemented with annuals, the garden surely will be filled with an abundance of beauty and pollinators. Happy planting.
