Miller’s three-pointer lifts Avella

Brandon R. Miller hit a three-point field goal with 1.7 seconds remaining to give Avella a 57-54 victory over Jefferson-Morgan in a non-section game.
Drew Keenan converted two free throws to tie the game, 54-54, with 32 seconds to play. Avella then stole the ball, setting up Miller’s heroics. Keenan had 13 points.
Rece Henneman had 16 points for the Rockets (1-2) and Travis Thomas tossed in 13.
Bentworth 56, Mapletown 43: Bentworth broke open a tie game at halftime, outscoring Mapletown, 39-26, and taking a 56-43 victory in a non-section game.
Chris Blackburn scored a team-high 20 points for the bearcats (1-0) and Cody Levine added 18. Dereck Riggleman had a game-high 23 points and Benn Boone scored 15 points on five three-point field goals for Mapletown (0-2).
Beth-Center 60, Geibel Catholic 55: Dean Holt scored eight of his 13 points in a 21-12 first quarter run as Beth-Center held off Geibel Catholic, 60-55, in a non-section game.
Zach Miller, Anthony Gilpin and Cody Durant all added 12 points for the Bulldogs (2-0).
Aaron Agonstoni led Geibel (0-2) with a game-high 27 points.

Frazier 50, Bentworth 46: Frazier rallied from an 11-point deficit in the first quarter and took a 50-46 victory from Bentworth in a non-section game.
Three Bearcats (1-2) led 23-12 after one but were outscored 38-23 over the final three quarters. Taylor Pompei scored a game-high 29 points for the Bearcats.
Lauren Timko led the Commodores (1-0) with 22 points and Kaley Barota added 10.
Carlynton 51: Burgettstown 29: Three players scored in double figures to power Carlynton to a 51-29 victory over Burgettstown in a non-section game.
Hannah Murray led the way with 13 points and Jordan Melko followed with and Amanda Dodd 10 for the Cougars (2-1).
Kristen Roy paced the Blue Devils (0-1) with nine points.
West Greene 51, Hundred 38: The Raber sisters, Madison and Alyssa, each had a double-double to lead West Greene to a 51-38 victory over Hundred in a non-section game.
Madison Raber scored 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Alyssa Raber had 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Pioneers (1-0). Emily Courtwright added 10 points.
Katie Tennant paced Hundred, which trailed 22-9 after one quarter, with 17 points.
Albert Galatin 40, Waynesburg 29: Courtney Cain had 13 points as Albert Galatin defeated Waynesburg, 40-29, in a non- section game.
Lindsey Huhn had 13 points and 14 rebounds for Waynesburg (2-1).
McGuffey 75, Southmoreland 18: Sammie Weiss scored 31 points, had 15 steals and 12 rebounds as McGuffey smashed Southmoreland, 75-18, in a non-section game.
Abby Pattison added 14 points, Rachel Czulewicz 11 and Sam Chadwick 10 for the Highlanders (3-0).
California 39, Neighborhood Academy 36: Cortnee McMasters had 20 points as California held off Neighborhood Academy, 39-36, in a non-section game.
California improves to 2-0, while Neighborhood Academy, which falls to 0-3, was led by Daeja Quick’s 19 points.
