California University bounced back from a tough loss to Mansfield 24 hours earlier by putting together a second-half comeback and rallying to defeat Bloomsburg 71-68 Wednesday night in a PSAC crossover game.

The game was moved to the Penn State-Fayette campus in Uniontown because of a power outage at California.

Bloomsburg (0-5, 2-7) led 28-22 at halftime.

California used some strong long-range shooting to win the game, making eight of 13 three-point field goals. The Vulcans made five threes in the second half, when they charged from behind and built a nine-point lead with 6:54 remaining.

Bloomsburg, however, battled back and led 65-62 with less than three minutes remaining. A three-pointer by Tynell Fortune with 53 seconds to play finally put Cal ahead for good at 70-68.

Bloomsburg had a chance to force overtime, but Wes Lyons missed a three-pointer with two seconds left.

Keith Lowe had his string of consecutive 20-point games end at four, but he did lead the Vulcans with 17 points and six assists. Fortune scored 14 points and Anthony Lytle had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Dontahe Jordan led Bloomsburg with 18 points.

Bloomsburg 63, California 61: Catherine Noack’s layup with four seconds remaining – only her second field goal of the game – gave Bloomsburg a 63-61 victory over California in a PSAC crossover game played at Penn State-Fayette.

Noack’s basket came six seconds after Cal’s Stephanie Michael tied the score as the Vulcans’ erased a 13-point deficit in the final 11 minutes.

Bloomsburg (3-2, 6-2), ranked No. 22 in NCAA Division II, received 18 points from Kayla Oxenrider and 17 from Lauren Ellis. Dana Wieller had 12 points for the Huskies.

Chelsea McKnight led Cal (3-2, 6-2) with 16 points. Michael and point guard Kate Seebohm had 11 points each.
