The Wild Things have signed seven players, including six who played for Washington last year, to contract extensions for the 2013 season.

Returning to the roster are pitchers Justin Hall and Orlando Santos, catcher Rick Devereaux, designated hitter Mark Samuelson and outfielders Andrew Heck and Vinnie Fayard. Washington also signed pitcher Cory Caruso, who was recently acquired in a trade with River City.

Hall will be playing his third season with the Wild Things. A starting pitcher, Hall has a 16-14 career record with the Wild Things and holds the franchise record for strikeouts in a game (14), innings pitched in a season (145 1/3) and complete games in a season (5). Santos was one of the top closers in the Frontier League last season and had a 1-1 record, 1.21 ERA and 11 saves.

Heck and Devereaux are Pittsburgh natives who were impact players in their rookie seasons with the Wild Things. Heck had a team-best .310 batting average and Devereaux drove in 33 runs.

Samuelson was acquired in a midseason trade with the London Rippers, and Fayard played in 10 games after joining the team late in the year.

Caruso had an 0-2 record and 4.45 ERA with River City last year, his rookie season.
