Berardi reaches milestone in Mikes’ win over Charleroi

Morgan Berardi became the eighth player in Carmichaels girls basketball history to surpass 1,000-career points in a 48-35 victory over Charleroi in a non-section game.
Berardi scored 18 points to reach 1,002 for her career for the Mikes, who won six in a row after a season-opening loss.
The other girls to reach the milestone are Donna Pascuzzo (1980), Angie Tekavic (1982), Abby McMinn (2001), Megan Stuvek (2007) and Jordan Duke (2009). Stuvek is the all-time scoring leader with 1,781 points.
Amanda Brown had a double-double, 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Mikes.
Mia Woytovich led the Cougars (5-2) with 11 points.
Ringgold 54, Peters Township 35: Bailey Cooper’s 21 points led Ringgold to a 54-35 non-section win over Peters Township.
Josie Schmidt added 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sammy Byczynski chipped in 10 points for the Rams (3-3).
Madison Kerr led Peters Township (2-5) with 10 points.
West Greene 40, West Greene 34: Emily Stoll led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points as West Greene held off Waynesburg, 40-34, in a non-section game.
Madison Raber added 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Emily Courtwright had 11 points and Alyssa Raber had 12 rebounds for the Pioneers (5-1).
Danielle Jacobs led Waynesburg (2-4) with 12 points.

Chartiers Valley 75, McGuffey 44: Michael Boulous scored 21 points and Chartiers Valley opened up a 56-23 halftime lead en route to a 75-44 Section 5-AAA win over McGuffey.
Dominic Cassello and Spencer Carson added 11 point each for the Colts (3-0, 7-0).
Darrell Briggs had 11 points, while Taylor Pasquiarello added 10 for McGuffey (0-2, 4-3).
South Park 77, Waynesburg 54: Ryan Snider scored 27 points as South Park jumped out to a 37-18 lead at the half and defeated Waynesburg, 77-54, in a Section 5-AAA game.
Carter Grote added 14 points for South Park (1-2, 3-4).
Adam Foz scored 22 points, Corey Dispenza 13 and John Glenn Davis 10 for Waynesburg (0-3, 3-5).
Upper St. Clair 64, Canon-McMillan 32: Joe Klein scored 24 points on eight three-point field goals as Upper St. Clair beat Canon-McMillan, 64-32 in a Section 4-AAAA game.
J.J. Conn had 16 points for the Panthers (1-1, 4-3). who held the Big Macs to six points over the middle two quarters.
Brett Haney paced CM (1-2, 4-4) with 10 points.
Burgettstown 74, Chartiers-Houston 61: Four players scored in double figures and Burgettstown jumped to a quick lead before taking a 74-61 victory from Chartiers-Houston in a Section 4-AA game.
Josh Mack led the way with 21 points for the Blue Devils (1-1, 4-5), who got out to a 19-8 first-quarter lead. Ryan Glover had 16, Jonathan Sabo 14 and Kurt Kowalski 12.
Miles Williamson paced the Bucs (0-3, 2-4) with 14 points. Kodie Hanley and Shayne Murphy each scored 10.
Charleroi 80, West Greene 27: Matt Indorante scored a game-high 35 points and set a school record with seven three-point field goals during Charleroi’s 80-27 victory over West Greene in a Section 5-AA game.
Eric Johnson and Jim Diaz each scored 10 points for the Cougars (3-0, 3-2).
West Greene fell to 0-5 and 0-3 in the section.
Bentworth 69, Frazier 67: Dustin Carpenter sank two free throws with under 20 seconds to play to send Bentworth to a 69-67 victory over Frazier in a Section 5-AA game.
Cody Levine scored 27 points and Chris Blackburn dropped in 26 for the Bearcats (2-1, 4-5), who rallied from three-point deficit in the third quarter.
West Mifflin 62, Ringgold 42: Four players scored in double figures to propel West Mifflin past Ringgold 62-42 in a Section 4-AAA game.
Ryan Maha tossed in 17 points for the Titans (3-0, 5-1). Derrick Fulmer and Cy Murphy each scored 12 and Cleve Randolph 10.
Nico Law had 13 points and Dayshore Majors 12 for the Rams (0-3, 1-5).
