The Washington & Jefferson College women’s basketball team trailed visiting Westminster by five at halftime, but rebounded with a stellar second half to open Presidents’ Athletic Conference play with a 56-51 win at Henry Memorial Center.

Valerie Dunlap had game-highs with 17 points and 14 rebounds for W&J, which improved to 4-1. Emily Abraham had nine points and Chelsea Apke added eight for the Presidents, who shot 44.8 percent (13 of 29) in the second half after shooting just 26.7 percent (eight of 30) from the field in the first half.

The Presidents outscored Westminster (1-4), 36-26, over the final 20 minutes.

W&J won despite committing 19 turnovers, a big reason being it out-rebounded Westminster, 46-27.
