Softball: Trinity rolls to 3rd win

Olivia Gray had two doubles, a single and drove in three runs Monday to help Trinity to a 9-4 victory over Moon in a Section 2-AAA game.
Delany Elling doubled and had two RBI for the Hillers (3-0, 3-0), Ashley Winklevoss doubled and Madison Hornak went 3-for-3 and scored twice. Moon fell to 1-2, including 1-1 in the section.
• Cheyenne Winters singled, tripled and drove in four runs to help power Burgettstown to a 15-0 victory over Cornell in a three-inning, Section 1-A game.
Jordan Cullison had a triple for Burgettstown (3-0, 4-2). Morgan Ellek went 2-for-2 with four RBI and Shannon Briggs had two singles and an RBI.
• Marlie Mounts’ three-run home run paced McGuffey to a 12-0 victory over Fort Cherry in a five-inning, Section 2-AA game.
Sammie Weiss had a double and Cassie Weiss struck out seven for the host Highlanders (4-1, 4-1). Fort Cherry is 0-4 and 0-4.
• Nicole Jezerski allowed one hit over five inning and Serra came away with a 12-0 victory over Mapletown in Section 2-A.
Gia Husnick hit a two-run home run and drove in three for Serra (4-1, 5-1). Jezerski, Maria Lamonde and Sam Andrekanic each hit a double.
Jordan Adams tripled for Mapletown (0-4, 0-5).
• Kayla Briggs struck out 11 and did not allow a hit over five innings as Chartiers-Houston blanked visiting Washington, 10-0, in Section 2-AA.
Briggs also doubled and had three RBI for the Bucs (4-0, 7-0). Piper McLaughlin doubled, singled and scored three times, and Megan Kraushaar doubled.
Washington is 1-3 in the section and overall.
• Bailey Bennington pitched a three-hitter and doubled to help West Greene defeat host Clay-Battelle 10-0 in a five-inning, non-section game.
Alyssa Raber doubled, singled and drove in two runs for West Greene (4-2). Autumn Widdup and Madison Yeater each hit a double.
• Nicole Ashcraft hit a home run and Belle Vernon broke a tie by scoring three runs in the fifth inning for a 7-3 victory over host Waynesburg in a non-section game.
Anegla Sullivan and Molly Gauden each doubled for BV (2-5). Natalie Bashada was the winning pitcher.
Taylor Staley had a big game for Waynesburg (4-5) with a double and triple.
