Toni Spossey has been ruled eligible to participate in all sports effectively immediately after an appeal hearing at the PIAA offices in Mechanicsburg Friday morning.

On March 19, the WPIAL Board of Control ruled that Spossey was prohibited from playing softball for a year – though she was eligible in all other sports – after transferring from Trinity to Chartiers-Houston on Jan. 22.

The meeting lasted about 90 minutes, said Chartiers-Houston athletic director Kurt Kesneck, who participated along with Chartiers-Houston principal Phil Mary via teleconference due to PSSA testing. Those from Trinity, the WPIAL and Spossey’s family attended the hearings in person, Kesneck said.

Spossey was the starting pitcher for Trinity’s softball last spring, though she’ll be behind three-time all-state selection Kayla Briggs at Chartiers-Houston.
