Charges dropped against Pitt players

PITTSBURGH – Authorities in western Pennsylvania say assault and conspiracy charges against three University of Pittsburgh football players have been withdrawn following their completion of community service.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://bit.ly/17eZsXG ) says the misdemeanor charges against running back Ray Graham, wide receiver Devin Street and defensive back Lafayette Pitts were dropped Monday after all three pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. Graham’s attorney announced the deal in January and said that charge was similar to a traffic ticket carrying a fine of up to $300.

The three were charged last fall after police alleged that they surrounded another student on a sidewalk near the campus before one of the players punched him in the head. He declined to press charges but said he wanted to ensure that no one else was harassed.
