Eck now has 124 goals to eclipse the former record held by Zach Devilbiss, who graduated in 2009 with 122. Eck added two assists to finish with five points for W&J, which dropped to 0-6, 4-10.
The California University softball team closed the regular season with a doubleheader sweep at Gannon Saturday in PSAC West action, winning 3-1 and 6-2.
With the sweep, the Vulcans improved to 32-2 this season, 15-1 in league play. Cal U begins the PSAC Tournament Wednesday against Mansfield.
Alex Sagl improved to 16-1 after allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings in Game 1. Lindsay Reicoff scored two of the team’s three runs.
Freshman Haley Bashada got the win in Game 2 by spreading six hits over seven innings. Reicoff went 3-for-4 with one run scored, while Sagl was 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored.
The Waynesburg University women’s track and field program used five first-place finishes Saturday during the second day of the 2013 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships to earn its first title.
The Yellow Jackets, who began participating in the PAC Track & Field Championships in 2005, finished with 154 total team points, edging second-place Grove City College (150).

Rhea Huwe posted a pair of first-place finishes for the Yellow Jackets, claiming individual titles in the long jump (16-09 1/4) and the 100-meter dash (12.76 seconds). Huwe also nabbed a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (25.74).
Carly Schubert, named the 2013 PAC Women’s Field MVP, posted a first-place finish in the shot put (39-10 1/2) and a second-place finish in the discus (119-02). Megan Sowers claimed the javelin title with a throw of 132-06, while Megan Fortna ran to a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:34.68. Amanda Hobe put forth a first-place effort in the triple jump (34-03.50) Friday evening.
W&J placed third in both team standings, as the Presidents posted 98 points on the men’s side, 148.5 for the women.
Cheyenne Mangold was selected the 2013 PAC Track and Field MVP after producing 34 points with wins in the 200 and 400, setting championship meet records in both. She also helped the 4×100 and 4×400 relays teams to runner-up finishes.
Kristen Galligan won PAC titles in the 5,000 and 10,000. Scott Ryan paced the men’s team with the 10,000 championship.
