AVON, Ohio – Daniel Bowman hit a solo home run and drove in two runs as the Lake Erie Crushers defeated the Wild Things, 7-5, Wednesday night.

The loss dropped Washington (35-42) to seven games below .500 for the first time all season. The Wild Things have lost a season-high six games in a row. Lake Erie has won seven in a row and moved into a first-place tie with Traverse City, which lost to the Frontier League Greys.

Lake Erie forged a 5-0 lead in the first two innings against Washington starter Gary Lee (5-8) and increased the advantage to 6-0 in the fifth on Bowman’s home run. The Wild Things’ A.J. Nunziato had a two-run double in the seventh, but the Crushers got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning.

Washington’s C.J. Beatty hit his 15th home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the eighth and had a run-scoring double in the ninth. Beatty was 3-for-5 with a double, triple and homer.
