Ringgold girls get road victory

The combination of Ringgold’s 5-4 point guard Elenia Radnic and 6-6 center Marlena Schmidt was too much for host Laurel Highlands as the Rams won, 40-32, in Uniontown.
Radnic scored 19 points and Schmidt followed with 17 as the Ringgold improved its record to 3-1. The Rams, who led 13-10 after one quarter, were able to overcome being held scorless in the second half as they fell behind 14-13 at intermission. Ringgold took control by outscoring the Mustangs 16-7 in the third quarter.
Laurel Highlands fell to 1-4.
California 42, Ellis School 26:California freshman Kylie Huffman scored 13 points and the Trojans defeated Ellis School, 42-26, in a nonsection game.
California (2-2) also was paced by Jenna Miller’s 13 points and the Trojans limited Ellis School (1-3) to single-digit point totals in every quarter. Li Milich led Ellis School with 10 points.
Bentworth 48, Mapletown 28:Bentworth mounted a second-half comeback to defeat Mapletown, 48-28, in the Avella Tip-off Tournament’s consolation game.
The Bearcats (1-3) were led by Riley Skerbetz’s 16 points. Kendra Campbell followed with 11 points and Hether Chester had 10.
While Mapletown (0-4) led 20-18 at halftime, foul trouble for several players cost the Maples their momentum. Bentworth outscored Mapletown 30-8 in the second half.
Seton-La Salle 66, Fort Cherry 35: Seton-La Salle used a 21-point third quarter to pull away from Fort Cherry, 66-35, in a Section 4-AA matchup.
The Rebels (2-0, 2-2) were led by Yacine Diop’s 23 points and double-digit point performances from two other players, Nijah Gibson with 13 points and Nicollete Newman with 12.
Fort Cherry (0-2, 0-3) was led in scoring by Rachel Bellhy, who scored 14 points.
Boys result
Connellsville 80, Trinity 41: Connellsville had four players score in double figures and the Falcons rolled to an 80-41 victory over visiting Trinity in a non-section game.
Connellsville (3-1) led 23-7 after one quarter and held Trinity (2-3) to 19 second-half points. Jimmy Leichliter paced Connellsville with a game-high 18 points.
Mitchell Kendra led Trinity with 10 points.
