Brandon Lawless and Corey Fuller combined for 53 points as Carmichaels defeated Jefferson-Morgan, 81-48, Thursday night in the opening game of the Carmichaels Lions Club tournament.

Lawless scored 27 points and Fuller followed with 26 for the Mikes (6-0), who are the only undefeated boys basketball team in Washington or Greene counties.

Carmichaels led 38-20 at halftime before outscoring the Rockets (3-6), 27-9 in the third quarter. Justin Newman scored 13 points for Carmichaels.

Jefferson-Morgan was led in scoring by Rece Henneman’s 17 points. Carmichaels will play Mapletown 7:30 p.m. tonight for the tournament championship.

Mapletown 54, Beth-Center 34: Mapletown had three players score in double-digits and the Maples snapped a three-game losing streak with a 54-34 victory over Beth-Center to advance to the Carmichaels Lions Club tournament championship game.

Dereck Riggleman scored 17 points and Ben Boone added 16 for the Maples (2-4). Dana White rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points.

Beth-Center (2-5) was held to 13 first-half points. The Bulldogs will face Jefferson-Morgan in the consolation game tonight at 6 p.m.

Girls results

Neshannock 61, Monessen 12: Neshannock’s 24-0 run during the first eight minutes of play sparked the Lancers to a 81-12 victory over Monessen in the opening game of the Neshannock tournmaent.

The Lancers (9-0) were led in scoring by Madison McHale, who scored 17 points, and Cassidy Burrelli’s 10 points. Neshannock led Monessen (1-4) 42-8 at halftime to run away with the win. Monessen was led by Teraee Bradford’s six points.

Avonworth 51, West Greene 23: Mackenzie Mayernick scored 21 points and led Avoworth to a 51-23 win over West Greene in the first round of the Bentworth tournament.

The Antelopes (3-2) outscored West Greene 25-8 in the first half and advance to the championship game tonight.

The Pioneers (4-2) were led by Madison Raber’s nine points.
