W&J advances to title game

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – All five Washington & Jefferson College starters scored in double figures as the Presidents advanced to the finals of the PAC women’s basketball championships with a 76-70 win over Saint Vincent Friday night.

Kara Seamon, Alexa Burzese, Chelsea Apke and Valerie Dunlap had 15 points each, while Emily Abraham added 11 for the Presidents (20-7), who advance to today’s championship game to face host Thomas More, an 75-57 winner of Waynesburg Friday night.

Dunlap added a team-high 13 rebounds, while Seamon had six assists.

Devin McGrath had 21 points to lead Saint Vincent (20-7), which also got 12 points from Elle Collins and 11 from Jordan McClinton.

Thomas More 75, Waynesburg 57: Allison Long had 25 points to lead one-beaten and top-seeded Thomas More to a 75-57 win over Waynesburg in a PAC semifinal.

Jenny Burgoyne added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Jill Brunsman had 12 points for the Saints (26-1), who face W&J in today’s PAC championship.

Jessi Drayer led Waynesburg (14-13) with 13 points, while Elaine Hasek added 11 rebounds.
