Things’ players, coaches named to All-Star game

The Wild Things will have four players and four coaches in Wednesday’s Frontier League All-Star game at Consol Energy Park.
Third baseman Jovan Rosa and catcher Jim Vahalik were chosen Thursday as two of the four manager’s additions to the East Division roster. Washington second baseman C.J. Beatty and right fielder Stewart Ijames were announced Monday as starters.
Also added to the East roster were Traverse City first baseman Chase Burch (.305, 9 home runs, league-leading 42 RBI) and pitchers Nick Capito (2-0, 6 saves, 0.82 ERA) and Jake Sabol (6-4, 2.44).
Traverse City’s Gregg Langbehn, who will manage the East, announced his coaching staff for the game. It includes Matt Pulley and Dan Rohn from the Beach Bums and the entire entire Washington staff of manager Bart Zeller and coaches Bob Buzzoto, Rich Pasquale and Gary Lee.
Rosa is Washington’s second-leading hitter with a .315 batting average. He has 12 doubles, three home runs and 20 RBI.
Vahalik is making his second consecutive all-star game appearance. He has used a recent surge to push his batting average up to .258. He has six doubles and three home runs.
West Division manager Phil Warren of Gateway added Grizzlies infielder Jose Flores (.211) and pitcher Richard Barrett (2-0, 11 saves, 1.47), along with Windy City catcher Zach Aakhus (.292) and Normal pitcher Drew Provence (3-2, 2.12).
