The Pitt football team’s rotating crossover opponents for the next 11 seasons were announced by the ACC Tuesday.
The Panthers will annually play eight ACC games. Six of those contests will be against Coastal Division opponents (Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech) and two will be against Atlantic Division teams. Pitt will play Syracuse every year as a permanent Atlantic Division opponent. The other six Atlantic teams will rotate through the Panthers’ schedule over a 12-year period.
They include: 2014 at Boston College; 2015 vs. Louisville (scheduled to join ACC’s Atlantic Division in 2014); 2016 at Clemson; 2017 vs. NC State; 2018 at Wake Forest; 2019 vs. Boston College; 2020 at Florida State; 2021 vs. Clemson; 2022 at Louisville; 2023 vs. Wake Forest; 2024 at NC State.
Pitt’s rotating crossover opponent in 2013 is Florida State, which will visit Heinz Field for the season opener on Labor Day (Sept. 2).
