Pitt to play in Jimmy V Classic

Pitt will play former Big East Conference basketball rival Cincinnati as part of the 2013 Jimmy V Classic doubleheader Dec. 17 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.The Pitt-Cincinnati contest will be played at 7 p.m. as part of a doubleheader that will be followed by a Florida-Memphis. Both games will be televised by ESPN.
Pitt is making its third all-time appearance in the Jimmy V Classic as the Panthers defeated Memphis, 70-51, in 2004 and played Indiana in 2009.
It was announced earlier that Pitt will compete in the 2013 Legends Classic, Nov. 25 and 26, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. against two of three opponents: Houston, Stanford or Texas Tech. Pitt will host two regional games as part of the Legends Classic, which will be played at the Petersen Events Center in November. Tip-off times and matchups will be announced at a later date.
Pitt also will host Penn State as part of the 2013 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Dec. 3.
