Men’s baseball: Cal splits doubleheader

California University split a non-conference doubleheader with Fairmont State, dropping the opener, 2-0, before winning the nightcap, 5-1, in men’s college baseball action.

Jamie Allard and Nick Mayle combined on a four-hitter for Fairmont (1-4), while Tyler Barnett drove in both runs. Waynesburg High School graduate Ben Coleman went 1-2 in the game for Fairmont, getting the start at third base.

G.J. Senchak took the loss for Cal (4-2), allowing seven hits, while striking out six.

Justin Taylor picked up the win in the nightcap, allowing just one run in seven innings, that coming from Waynesburgh High School freshman Alex Swauger, who started in left field for Fairmont.

California High School graduate had an RBI for the Vulcans, while Carmichaels graduate Chuck Gasti scored a run in the nightcap after going 1 for 3 in the opener.
