PT’s Higgins makes a splash at PIAA tournament

Peters Township senior Kyle Higgins finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly and took care of the third leg on the Indians’ sixth-place 200 medley relay team to highlight Friday’s local performances at the PIAA Class AAA swim and dive championships.

Peters Township’s relay team, which consisted of Dan Pletz, Chris Buzard, Higgins and Sebastian Yocca, finished with a time of 1:35.28 inside Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium.

On the girls side, Peters Township’s Saoirse Palu-Benson took ninth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.89 seconds.

Competition wraps up today, with Palu-Benson competing in the 500 freestyle, Peters Township’s Cody Pyles in boys diving, Buzard in the 100 freestyle, Higgins and Pletz in the 100 backstroke and Buzard in the 100 breaststroke.
