High school softball: C-H runs record to 3-0

Kassie Kesneck had a double and four RBI as Chartiers-Houston defeated Whitehall, 9-3, Saturday in a game played in Myrtle Beach, S.C., that was shortened by rain.

Kayla Briggs was the winning pitcher for the Bucs (3-0), striking out seven in the six-inning game. Briggs also hit a double. Haley Sutton added a triple for Chartiers-Houston.

Andrew Emely took the loss for Whitehall.

• Sophomore Maddie Ludrosky had four hits, including a double, and fired a one-hitter as Jefferson-Morgan opened its season with a 13-2 non-section win over Beth-Center in six innings.

Freshman Morgan Gamble had three hits, including a double and homer, for the Rockets (1-0).

Losing pitcher Abby Gustovich had the lone hit for Beth-Center (0-1), a single in the fifth.

• Latrobe pounded out 11 hits, including a home run by Jenna Adams, to defeat Belle Vernon, 10-3, in a non-section game.

Ashley Perillo added a double and three RBI, and Shelby Noel had a triple and three runs batter in for Latrobe (1-0). Olivia Gambita picked up the win.

Alexis Ellin doubled, while Natalie Bashada took the loss for Belle Vernon (0-1).
