Baseball: Peters Township remains undefeated

Peters Township moved its record to 3-0 with a 5-2 victory over Herndon, Va., Thursday in the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Chris Watschak hit a solo home run and Matt Loether, Ryan Tassone and Phil Zeffiro each had two hits and an RBI for the Indians. Steve Yuran struck out four and walked none in picking up the win.

Tom Ballaro had two doubles for Herndon.

• Dylan Pounds tossed a three-hit shutout in Chartiers-Houston’s 7-0 win over McGuffey in a non-section game.

Tyler Day and Pounds each tripled in two runs for the Bucs (1-0). Alex Ferrari added a double.

Andy Crawford doubled for the Highlanders (1-1).
