PITTSBURGH (AP) – The U.S. Postal Service is temporarily removing mailboxes along the Pittsburgh Marathon course as a security precaution.

The postal service announced the measure in a news release Wednesday.

The move is one of several being taken by local, county, state and federal officials in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings last month.

Sunday’s marathon is expected to draw 27,000 runners and about 50,000 spectators. The boxes will be removed starting Saturday. Regular mail collection will resume Monday.
