H.S. Softball: Weiss sisters lead McGuffey past Jeff-Morgan

Sammie Weiss had a two-run double in the second inning to provide the game’s only runs as McGuffed edged Jefferson-Morgan, 2-0, in a non-section high school girls softball game.

Cassie Weiss earned the win, scattering seven hits and striking out 10 for the Highlanders (12-5).

Maddie Ludrosky took the loss for Jefferson-Morgan, which finishes its season at 12-8, despite allowing just seven hits and recording seven strikeouts.

• Chartiers-Houston finished its regular season unbeaten as the Bucs handed South Fayette a 7-4 loss in a non-section game.

Toni Spossey picked up the win for the Bucs (16-0), one of just three unbeaten softball teams in the WPIAL, scattering four hits and striking out six.

Allie Reid tripled, while Ashley Iagnemma took the loss for South Fayette, which finishes its season at 9-8.
