The Washington Wild Things trimmed their roster to the 24-player limit Wednesday in preparation for their Frontier League season opener Friday night at Schaumburg.

The Wild Things placed shortstop A.J. Nunziato on the 7-day disabled list with an ankle injury and released three players: first baseman Bryan Nicholson, outfielder Jose Rivero and right-handed pitcher Cole Brand. Nunziato is eligible to be activated May 20.

Schaumburg is one of four teams that will open the Frontier League season tonight when the Boomers host Windy City.
