LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Washington Wild Things erupted for six runs over the first three innings, cracked 11 hits and took advantage of an error-prone Rockford on the way to a 10-0 victory Tuesday at Aviator Stadium.
The victory was the first for Washington manager Bart Zeller, who took over the team when Chris Bando was not able to return for health reasons this season.
Justin Hall pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits, striking out six and not allowing a walk. It was Hall’s ninth complete game of his Frontier League career.
Gus Benusa had three of the 11 hits and scored three times, Jovan Rosza went 2-for-5 with a run and C.J. Beatty drove in five runs despite having only one hit.
Rick Devereaux sparked a two-run first inning with an RBI single and Shain Stoner drove in another with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
Rockford made three errors in the second inning, including back-to-back by third baseman Nash Hutter. Beatty drove in one run with a bases-loaded walk.
With a 6-0 lead in the seventh, Stewart Ijames cracked a solo ho,me run and C.J. Beatty launched a three-run blast, his first of the season, four batters later.
