Atlanta settles on new head coach
The Atlanta Hawks named longtime Spurs assistant Mike Budenholzer as head coach Tuesday, giving the team another link to San Antonio’s championship tradition.
General manager Danny Ferry called on his past experience with San Antonio to select Budenholzer to replace Larry Drew as coach. Drew’s contract expires in June following three seasons as coach.
The Hawks have scheduled a news conference for Budenholzer tday in Atlanta.

At the news conference Tuesday announcing his hiring as Suns coach, Jeff Hornacek spoke at length about his readiness for the job and the influences that will guide him. “I’ve always felt that I’ve been a coach,” he said.
