Top-seeded California University won the first PSAC women’s soccer championship in school history by defeating visiting West Chester 3-0 Saturday afternoon in the conference tournament final.

California (17-2-2), ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II, earned an automatic berth to the national tournament.

Cal took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when junior Chelsea Crockett lifted a ball over the West Chester goalkeeper from the right side of the goal box. Senior Stephanie Thompson made it 2-0 with 15 minutes left in the first half as she headed a corner kick from Jordan Gray.

Gray scored the final goal with 34 minutes remaining off a cross from Haley Henderson.

Cal goalkeeper Ashley Magruda was named the tournament MVP after posting shutouts in the semifinals and finals. She made four saves against West Chester (13-7), the tournament’s sixth seed.
