Brian Runyon’s goal in the opening minute of the second half Sunday sent Thomas More to a 1-0 victory over Washington & Jefferson in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference men’s soccer championship game at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Ky.

Thomas More (15-2-2) won its fifth consecutive PAC title and the conference’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.

The Saints and W&J (10-7-3) battled through a scoreless first half before Runyon tallied the only goal of the afternoon, connecting on header only 58 seconds into the second half. In the 58th minute, W&J’s Brian Hanna had the Presidents’ best opportunity to score but Thomas More goalkeeper Matt Kees made one of his three saves to keep the Saints in the lead.

W&J’s 10 wins is the team’s best total since 2010. The Presidents hope to receive a berth today in the ECAC South Region tournament.
