Susie Godwin, Natalie Abraham and Erica Nordlund scored goals as Waynesburg University defeated Chatham, 3-0, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference women’s soccer match Thursday.
Ciara Scott and Alyssa Ehlert combined on the shutout for Waynesburg (1-1, 4-6).
Chatham falls to 0-2, 1-9.
The Bentworth Bearcats (7-5, 9-7) overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit on Senior Night to defeat McGuffey (2-8-1, 3-9-1) in a Section 2-A matchup.
Madison Jones scored the game-winning goal with seven minutes remaining, while Ella Schaltenbrand and Madison Fowler also added goals.
Beth-Center (10-2, 12-3) defeated Bentworth, 8-1, behind two goals from Aaron Ankne in a Section 4-A matchup. The Bulldogs are on their way to the playoffs while the Bearcats (3-7-2, 4-11-2) fall to fifth place in the section.
• Washington (1-8-2, 2-11-2) and California (3-7-1, 5-9-1) played into double-overtime but neither team could beat the other’s goalkeeper, as the Section 4-A matchup ended in a 0-0 draw.
• Canon-McMillan (7-2-2, 12-2-2) junior midfielder Josh Kruczek scored less than three minutes into overtime to propel the Big Macs to a Section 5-AAA victory over Chartiers Valley (3-7-2, 4-8-3). Goalkeeper Christian Snatchko recorded his seventh shutout of the season.
