CONNELLSVILLE – Ty Mitchell returned the game’s opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, sparking Bentworth to a 36-point first quarter, as the Bearcats cruised to their first victory of the season, 43-6, over Geibel in a Tri-County South Conference football game Saturday afternoon.

Mitchell and Ethan Tush each scored two first-quarter touchdowns, and the Bentworth defense held winless Geibel (0-6, 0-7) scoreless until midway through the third quarter.

Mitchell closed the big first quarter for Bentworth (1-5, 1-6) with a 42-yard touchdown run. Tush had TD runs of 35 and 17 yards.

The Bearcats’ special teams and defense also got into the act in the first quarter. The Geibel punter was tackled in the end zone for a safety that made the score 9-0, and Bentworth’s Angelo Rios-Lopez returned an interception 33 yards for a score.

Matt McMillan added a 17-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to push Bentworth’s lead to 43-0.
