JEANNETTE – Waynesburg head coach Russ Moore has been looking for a signature win during his second stint as Waynesburg’s head coach. The Raiders gave him one Friday night.
John Glen Davis and Hunter Cenname each scored a pair of touchdowns as Waynesburg stunned Jeannette, 26-14, in an Interstate Conference high school football game to keep the Raiders’ playoff hopes alive.
Davis had 184 yards on 27 carries and scored a pair of second half touchdowns, while Cenname had 138 yards on 21 attempts for the Raiders, who improved to 3-4 in conference and 4-4 overall.
The win puts the Raiders one-game behind Jeannette (4-3, 4-4), Greensburg Central Catholic and Yough in the conference standings heading into the final week of the regular season. Yough defeated Greensburg Central Catholic, which hosts Jeanette next week, Friday night. Yough faces Southmoreland next week, while Waynesburg plays Washington.
Damone Morton had 107 yards rushing and scored both touchdowns for Jeannette, which began the game without four injured starters.
