CLAYSVILLE – The 1-2 punch of DeWayne Murray and Tyrone Freeman were too much for McGuffey, as Steel Valley topped the Highlanders, 28-21, Friday night in a Century Conference game.

Murray produced 121 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while Freeman added 129 yards and the game-winning score with 1:05 remaining in the game for Steel Valley (4-4, 4-5).

Steel Valley trailed 21-14 entering the fourth quarter, but Connor Stevens threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to De’Andre Hopkins to tie the game with 11:38 remaining in the game.

Patrick Frey had 91 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries for the Highlanders (3-5, 4-5) and added a 90-yard kick return to set up a Nathan Whipkey touchdown run in the third quarter. Whipkey also threw a TD pass for McGuffey, which will host Laurel Highlands Thursday in a Week 10 game.
