Swope, defense send PT to postseason

McMURRAY – Peters Township earned a playoff berth in the WPIAL football playoffs with a 48-17 win over Canon-McMillan Friday night in a Southeastern Conference game.

Indians quarterback Tim Swoope completed 14 of 19 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns, and Peters Township (4-5, 5-4) scored two defensive touchdowns.

Swoope threw touchdown passes to Max Augenstein, Mike Erenberg and Nick Ray. Peters Township’s Jake Uhler returned an interception 65 yard for a score in the second quarter and Michael McAleavey ran back a fumble 44 yards for a touchdown in the fourth.

Canon-McMillan’s Jules Gdovic scored on touchdown runs of 11 and 16 yards, and kicker Luke Starcevic converted a 42-yard field goal.
