Soccer: McGuffey boys rout Southmoreland

Aaron Harris scored two goals to help McGuffey stop Southmoreland, 6-1, Thursday in a Section 6-AA match. Tyler Harris, Matt Nardi, Nate Stout and Travis Brownlee each had a goal for the Highlanders (4-0, 5-2).

Southmoreland fell to 4-2, including 2-1 in the section.

• Josh Krusczek scored two goals to pace Canon-McMillan to a 3-0 shutout of Ambridge in a Section 5-AAA match.

Corey McCurdy had a goal and assist and Nick Sodini an assist for the Big Macs (2-0-1, 4-0-1).

Christian Snatchko recorded the shutout.

• Corey McMurdy scored three goals and led a Trinity onslaught as the Hillers rolled over visiting Albert Gallatin, 10-0, in a 4-AAA match.

The win pushed Trinity above the .500 mark in the section at 2-1. The Hillers are 2-2 overall.

Austin Armstrong had two goals for Trinity, and Alec Belcastro, Anthony Salvatori, Colton Schrontz, Dawson Hilk and Gabriel Lopez each contributed one goal.

Ben Johnson was the goalkeeper for the Hillers.

AG is 0-4 in section and 1-5 overall.

• Washington and Bentworth battled to a 0-0 overtime tie in a Section 4-A match. Bentworth is 1-3-2 overall and 0-1-2 in section.

• Two first half goals sent Peters Township past Chartiers Valley, 2-0, in a Section 5-AAA match.

Brady Pike and Nicco Mastrangelo each had a goal and Matt Dekman assisted on the latter.

Josh Deyarmin got the shutout for PT (3-0, 6-1).

Sisters Samantha and Sabrina Bryan scored second-half goals to secure Canon-McMillan’s 3-0 victory over visiting Hempfield Thursday night in a non-section match.

Francesca Senna gave C-M (2-1-2) the only goal it would need when she scored in the first half. Goalkeeper Megan Virgin needed to make only one save for the shutout.

• Alyson Ferrari and Abby Hamilton each scored two goals to help Chartiers-Houston take a 7-0 victory over South side Beaver in a non-section match.

Erin James, Carly Wilson and Nikki Vehar each scored one goal for the Bucs (2-4).
