The third week of the high school football season will be remembered for what happened at Charleroi High School. Shai McKeznie, one of the most highly touted college recruits in the country, went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury to his right leg in the first half of a 66-10 victory over the Cougars. McKenzie was running with the ball when he made a cut and went down in pain. He was attended to by the WHS medical staff and carried off by teammates.

Other highlights included Fort Cherry getting a big win in the Class A Black Hills Conference. The Rangers downed Monessen, 49-33, to keep pace with Clairton, a 32-7 winner over California at the top of the conference standings. South Fayette beat Steel Valley, 42-7, in a battle of unbeatens in the Class AA Century Conference.

Nico Law scored accounted for four touchdowns, two in the air and two on the ground, in Ringgold’s 42-21 victory over Belle Vernon in the Class AAA Big Nine Conference. And Avella stayed unbeaten and tied with Beth-Center at the top of the Tri-County South Conference with a 41-6 rout of Mapletown. The Bulldogs dropped Carmichaels, 28-22.
