Soccer: Charleroi girls roll; Bluman’s goal gives C-H win

Charleroi scored five first-half goals Wednesday and cruised to an 8-1 victory over visiting Beth-Center in Section 2-A.

The win keeps Charleroi (4-1, 5-1) on the heels of section leader South Allegheny.

Ashley Riebau, Halee Fedrick and Kyra Watkins each scored two goals for the Cougars. Rachel Ritzer and Jessica Day had one goal apiece.

• Jessica Bluman scored the go-ahead goal eight minutes into the second half and Chartiers-Houston held on for a 2-1 victory over visiting Serra in Section 2-A.

C-H’s Ali Ferrari and Serra’s Megan Sieg scored first-half goals. Goalkeeper Addy Knetzer protected the lead for C-H (2-3, 4-5) by making nine saves.

• Canon-McMillan scored five second-half goals and defeated visiting Brashear 8-1 in Section 5-AAA.

Sabrina Bryan led the C-M attack with two goals, and Allison Thomas had four assists. Megan Campbell, Abby Gillespie, Lauren Hess, Allison Oddi, Aideen O’Donoghue and Cheyenne Trest each had one goal for the Big Macs (2-1-1, 4-2-2).

• Waynesburg played to a 1-1 tie against visiting Derry in Section 1-AA. The Raiders’ Sophie Benco had the game’s first goal.
