Monessen ends Clairton’s 66-game winning streak

CLAIRTON – Clintell Gillaspie, Nick Rullo and Monessen ended the longest winning streak in the nation.

Gillaspie scored four touchdowns, and Rullo passed for three scores, as Monessen stunned host Clairton 42-21 in a Class A Black Hills Conference game Friday night.

The Monessen victory ended Clairton’s 66-game winning streak.

The Greyhounds (3-1, 3-1) won in convincing fashion. Monessen led 14-0 at halftime, 21-0 after three quarters and 28-0 early in the fourth quarter.

Gillaspie rushed for 169 yards on 13 carries and caught three passes for 154 yards and two scores. After Clairton (3-1) pulled to within 28-16 in the fourth quarter, Gillaspie caught a 77-yard TD pass from Rullo and ran 91 yards for a score to make it 42-16.

Rullo completed 7 of 15 passes for 230 yards and three scores, including a 28-yarder to Irvin Green that made it 28-0.
