Mapletown climbs to .500 with win

CONNELLSVILLE – Adam Hein ran for two touchdowns, and Mapletown scored 22 first-quarter points, en route to a 36-14 victory over winless Geibel in a Tri-County South Conference game Saturday afternoon.

Mapletown (1-2, 2-2) forged a 20-0 lead in the game’s first six minutes on a 15-yard touchdown run by Hein, Colby Kincell’s six-yard TD run and a 15-yard scoring run by Dereck Riggleman. Tyler Rumble made it 22-0 with two seconds left in the first quarter by tackling the Geibel quarterback in the end zone for a safety.

Hein, who had 52 rushing yards on four carries, added a 32-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that gave Mapletown a 28-0 halftime lead.

Alix Gennette intercepted a Geibel pass in the third quarter and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown and a 36-0 Mapletown lead.

Kincell paced Mapletown’s offense with 119 rushing yards on 10 carries. Mapletown had 10 different ball carriers.

Geibel is 0-3, 0-4.
