C-M gives Coder first victory

PLUM – Canon-McMillan made its long trip to Plum worthwhile, squashing the Mustangs, 17-7, for their first victory of the season – and first under new coach Ron Coder.

Jules Gdovic and Tanner Piechnick led the way for Canon-McMillan (1-3, 1-4), which bolted to a 17-0 halftime lead in this Class AAAA Southeastern Conference game. Each caught a touchdown pass from Jordan Smith, Gdovic from 37 yards to open the scoring in the first quarter and Piechnick from 5 yards to close it early in the second.

Gdovic had 138 yards of offense, 73 rushing and 65 receiving. Piechnick also had two interceptions.

Plum (0-5, 0-5) broke the shutout on Zach Martin’s 1-yard run in t he last quarter.
