Brad Prpham homered to lead Thomas More to a 9-8 Presidents’ Athletic Conference men’s baseball victory over Waynesburg Sunday.

Eric Crum had four hits for Waynesburg (7-5, 11-16), while Jonathan Kletzil added three for the Yellow Jackets, who had 14 singles in the game.

Thomas More (9-3, 14-10) also had 14 hits, including a triple by Jason Handley and doubles from Casey Metzger and Travis Miller.

Nicky Jacobson was named tournament MVP as Connecticut College defeated Washington & Jefferson, 7-3, in the championship game of the CWPA Conference Division III Tournament at Macalester College.

The Camels (15-7) advance to the CWPA championship at Bucknell.

Rachel Clauss was named All-Tournament first-team for the Presidents, who finish the season at 17-8, a school record for wins. Laura Travers and Sara Boldt were named to the second team.

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith has been arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after authorities said he became belligerent during a security screening and threatened that he had a bomb.

LAPD Sgt. Michael Fox said Smith was booked Sunday afternoon.

Airport police Sgt. Karla Ortiz said the 24-year-old player was randomly selected for a secondary screening at Terminal 1. Ortiz said Smith became uncooperative with the process and told a TSA agent that he had a bomb before walking to the gate. When airport police officers caught up with him, Ortiz said Smith became uncooperative and was taken into custody.

A person familiar with the situation says the Detroit Pistons have decided not to renew Joe Dumars’ contract as president of basketball operations.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not made any announcement on Dumars’ future, says Dumars will remain with the Pistons as an adviser.

Dumars was named the 2003 executive of the year, and the Pistons won the title the following season, adding the 2004 crown to the two they won when Dumars was a player. But Detroit hasn’t made the playoffs since 2009, and the retooled Pistons flopped badly this season.
