Pitt to play Chaminade in Maui Invitational

The University of Pittsburgh basketball team will open the 2014 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational against host Chaminade, ESPN and tournament officials announced Wednesday. The game is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Nov. 24 at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui. The game will be televised by ESPNU. All three of Pitt’s Maui Invitational games will be televised live by an ESPN network.

In its second Maui Invitational game, Pitt will play either Brigham Young or San Diego State on Nov. 25. Pitt’s final game in the tournament will be Nov. 26.

In the other first-round games, Arizona will play Missouri, and Purdue will meet Kansas State.

Syracuse beat Baylor in last season’s championship game.

Pitt will play a four games in Maui as it has also scheduled a Nov. 21 game against the University of Hawaii at the Wailuku War Memorial Gym.
