Rebellion split DH with Pride

Brittney Lindley and B.B. Bates each had two hits and scored a run and the Rebellion assured themselves of not losing 40 regular-season games by beating the first-place USSSA Pride, 4-1, in the first game of a doubleheader in Orlando, Fla.

The Pride scored five unanswered runs in the second game to take a 5-1 win.

The Rebellion (9-38) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Brittney Lindley led off with a single and moved to third on a double by B.B. Bates. Bianca Mejia singled in Lindley and Bates scored on a grounder by Mandy Ogle.

In the fourth, Sarah Prezioso reached on an error and came around to score on a throwing error on catcher Kristen Sandberg on a third strike by Andie Varsho. Lindley drove in Varsho with a single.

Bryana Walker pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, an unearned run, three walks and two strikeouts.

The Pride got their run in the first inning when Brejae singled, was sacrificed to third base and scored on an error.

In the second game, the Pride hit two home runs to erase an early 1-0 lead by the Rebellion. Amanda Kamekona hit a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning and Bridgette DelPonte had a two-run blast in the sixth.

Lauren Lappin had an RBI-single for the Rebellion in the top of the second.
