Waynesburg runs past Burgettstown

WAYNESBURG – Hunter Cenname led a dominant Waynesburg rushing attack with 148 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders pulled away in the second half Friday night to defeat visiting Burgettstown 33-6 in a season-opening Interstate Conference game.

After a scorless first quarter, John-Glen Davis helped Waynesburg forge a 14-0 halftime lead by running nine yards for the game’s first score and throwing a 40-yard TD pass to Dom Sarra.

The second half belonged to Cenname, who scored on runs of five, 12 and seven yards as the Raiders built a 33-0 lead. Cenname carried 16 times.

Davis rushed for 119 yards on 15 carries as Waynesburg rushed for 309 yards and completed their only two passes for 54 yards.

Burgettstown broke the raiders’ shutout bid with 1:18 remaining as Robert Dupain scored on a 35-yard run. Dupain had 61 yards on two carries.
