Boys basketball roundup: Waynesburg turns tables on Chartiers-Houston

Dom Sarra had 24 points and nine rebounds and Waynesburg handed Chartiers-Houston a 66-50 defeat in a non-section high school boys basketball game Monday night.

Mitch Warmen had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Raiders (3-2), who had lost, 71-49, to the Bucs (3-2), two weeks ago at the McGuffey tip-off tournament. Travis Wilkinson had 10 points for Waynesburg.

Alec Ferrari scored 22 points and A.J. Myers had 11 for Chartiers-Houston.

Brownsville 66, West Greene 48: Noah Brown had 23 points as Brownsville overcame a slow start to defeat West Greene, 66-48, in a non-section game.

Marcellus Grooms added 10 points for Brownsville (4-1), which trailed 11-6 after one quarter.

Craig Weaver scored 19 points, while Kolten Rush added 11 for West Greene (1-4), which was outscored 44-19 in the second and third quarters.

Beth-Center 44, Avella 39: Beth-Center built a 16-point first-half lead, then held off a late charge by host Avella to defeat the Eagles 44-39 in a non-section game.

Brennan Stanley scored 11 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for B-C (2-3), which led by 14 points after one quarter and by 16 in the second. Avella (1-3) rallied and pulled to within 24-17 at halftime. The Eagles had a chance to tie with 40 seconds remaining but missed a three-pointer.

Ryan Byer scored 10 points for Beth-Center.

C.J. Norman led Avella with 11 points and Matt Wander followed with 10.
