B-C’s Bartman scores 1,000th in win over Avella

Beth-Center senior Anna Bartman recorded her 1,000th point and did it in style as the Bulldogs defeated Avella, 64-34, in a non-section high school girls basketball game Monday night.
Bartman scored a game-high 36 points, including four three-pointers, and reached the milestone with her final two points in the game. Kinlee Whited added 12 points for Beth-Center (4-2), which led 37-11 at halftime and held the Eagles to less than 10 points in three quarters.
Joelle Gossett scored 11 points for Avella (1-7).
Robert C. Byrd 50, Washington 39: Corin Todd scored a game-high 25 points to propel Robert Byrd past Washington, 50-39, at the EQT Classic in Bridgeport, W.Va.
The Eagles (4-2) will face Fairmont at 5 p.m., while the Prexies (4-3) play University in the loser’s bracket at 2 p.m.
Todd’s 25 points paced an attack that led by eight points at halftime before pulling away in the second half. Robert Byrd held Wash High to 15 first-half points and only 14 field goals on the game.
Tajah Gordon led Wash High with 10 points.
Trinity 73, Woodland Hills 15: Mary Dunn and Sierra Kotchman combined for 46 points as Trinity rolled past Woodland Hills, 78-15, at the Mt. Pleasant Tournament.
The Hillers (6-1) will face Mt. Pleasant in the championship today at 7:30 p.m., while the Wolverines (0-9) play Kiski Area in the consolation game.
Dunn scord a game-high 28 points and Kotchman added 18.
Jayla Ellis scored 8 points for Woodland Hills.
Bentworth 56, Mapletown 36: Reilly Skerbetz scored a game-high 25 points as Bentworth defeated Mapletown, 56-36, at the Bentworth Tournament.
The Bearcats (5-3) will face Avonworth in the championship tonight at 6 p.m.
Skerbetz made four three-point field goals to pace Bentworth, which led by 18 points at the end of the third quarter.
Taylor Vanata scored 15 points for Mapletown (2-6).
South Fayette 42, Gateway 28: South Fayette used a balanced scoring effort and a tough defensive gameplan to defeat Gateway, 42-28, at the Bethel Park Tournament.
The Lions (5-2) face Bethel Park tonight at 8 p.m. in the championship game. Autumn Mozick was South Fayette’s lone double-digit scorer with 10 points.
South Fayette led by nine at halftime and held on in the second half by limiting Gateway to 14 points in 16 minutes.
Gateway (3-4) was led by Morgan Halnsey’s 10 points.
California 59, Charleroi 24: Freshman Bailey Vig scored 23 points and won the tournament MVP as California defeated Charleroi, 59-24, to win its own tournament.
The Trojans (9-1) led 19-5 after one quarter, but then outscored Charleroi (7-2) just 4-2 in the second quarter.
Kaitlyn Riley led Charleroi with 11 points.
Carmichaels 46, South Alleheny 45: Caroline Cree scored 31 points and hit a three-pointer with just over 10 seconds remaining in the game to lift Carmichaels to a 46-45 win over South Allegheny at the California tournament.
The Mikes (4-7) led 25-18 at the half but saw that lead trimmed to 30-28 entering the fourth quarter.
Abby Duranko had 27 points to lead South Allegheny.
Chartiers-Houston 63, Farrell 37: Alexa Williamson’s 25 points led Chartiers-Houston to a 63-37 win over the host Steelers at the Farrell tournament.
Jaylinn Myers added 15 points and Jules Vulcano had 11 for the Bucs (5-3), who went on a 23-9 run in the second quarter.
Mycia Evans scored 12 points for Farrell (2-6).
Avonworth 41, West Greene 19: Katie Gould had 15 points to lead Avonworth to a 41-19 victory over West Greene at the Bentworth tournament.
The Antelopes (3-5) held the Pioneers (0-10) to three points in the first quarter and two in fourth.
Emily Tedrow scored eight points to lead West Greene.
