Wash High boys, Trinity girls in playoff doubleheader

The WPIAL basketball playoffs continue Tuesday and Wednesday, and 10 games will involve local teams.

There will be a Wednesday night doubleheader at West Allegheny High School that includes the Washington boys and Trinity girls. Trinity will play Hampton in a Class AAA first-round game at 6:30 p.m. followed by Washington playing Summit Academy in a Class AA first-round game. Washington defeated Burrell Saturday in a preliminary round game.

Another doubleheader involving local teams will be played Wednesday at Moon. The Avella girls will play Aliquippa in a Class A contest at 6:30 p.m., followed by Chartiers-Houston against the Quips in a Class AA boys contest.

There are four games, including three Class AA girls contests, scheduled for Tuesday night. Washington will play Neshannock at North Hills, Fort Cherry plays Our Lady of Sacred Heart at Chartiers Valley and McGuffey faces Brentwood at Peters Township. Each game has a 6:30 p.m. start time. Fort Cherry will be playing on the court where the Rangers defeated Avonworth in the preliminary round Friday night.

Also on Tuesday, the South Fayette boys play Elizabeth Forward at Canon-McMillan (8 p.m.).

On Wednesday, Ringgold plays Hopewell at Chartiers Valley in Class AAA girls, and the Carmichaels girls will face top-seeded Vincentian Academy at Keystone Oaks in Class A. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
