Parker scores 20 as Canon-Mac gets first section win

Danielle Parker scored 20 points and Canon-McMillan held Baldwin to three first-quarter points Thursday night on the way to a 52-45 victory in a Section 4-AAAA game.

Brittany Hutchinson scored 11 for the Big Macs (1-2, 5-6), who led 26-19 at halftime. Olivia Lorusso added 10 points.

Niki Corcoran led Baldwin (2-2, 7-3) with 15 points and Mandy Johnston had 10.

Burgettstown 53, Bentworth 37: Katie Tarr had a double-double – 17 points and 15 rebounds – to power Burgettstown to a 53-37 victory over Bentworth in a Section 5-AA game.

Michaela Bertovich and Samantha Scopel each scored 14 points for Burgettstown (1-2, 1-6). Scopel also handed out seven assists.

Grace Marchezak tossed in 13 points for Bentworth (0-2, 2-7) Kendra Campbell added 11 points.

Bishop Canevin 64, Chartiers-Houston 33: Becca Turney, a 6-3 sophomore center, scored 23 points and Bishop Canevin got back on the winning track with a 64-33 victory over visiting Chartiers-Houston in Section 4-AA.

Johnie Olkosky followed with 15 points for Bishop Canevin (3-0, 8-3), which snapped a two-game losing streak. The Crusaders led 32-19 at halftime and pulled away by outscoring the Bucs 24-5 in the third quarter.

Freshman Jala Youngblood led C-H (2-2, 6-3) with 10 points.
